Dream Park- A Public Park For All Children
How have I never heard of this! The largest play area in Fort Worth includes equipment and activities designed for children of all types.
People with limited mobility, sensory issues, ear implants, muscle tone issues, and more can all enjoy this specially designed park located at 2001 University Drive. Even children who have difficulty regulating body temperature can enjoy the more than adequate shading. Yes, it seems they’ve really thought of everything.
The website for Dream Park states that over 200,000 people in Tarrant County have some kind of disability and about 30,000 students are special needs. I very much look forward to taking my own children here.
Open 8:30am daily. Maintained daily by the city.
St Andrews Fall Festival Saturday Oct 23
From 11am-2pm Saturday Oct 23rd is a free fall festival held by St Andrews United Methodist Church outside on church grounds. Looks like they’re offering COVID testing AND vaccinations. Their site says masks will be required. I’m not sure if that is while you’re outside, but it’s something to be aware of before you go.
Opening in Theaters- “Ron’s Gone Wrong”
At my theater of choice, AMC Clearfork, you can see Ron’s Gone Wrong with the whole family. I mean, you can go to any theater, but I prefer Clearfork for the area’s upscale atmosphere. The theater itself is the best I’ve ever been to, and it’s only about 1.5 miles from Fort Worth Music Academy!
The theater is huge, very clean, and has a Dolby Atmos setup in theater 2. The seats literally shake (if you dig that kind of thing). But if want seats that simply recline and include seat heaters (yes, really), the non-Dolby showings of Ron’s Gone Wrong should do the trick for a relaxing few hours at the movies.
Blue Angels- Alliance Air Show
Ok, this is a big one. The Alliance Air Show is happening this weekend Oct 23-24. Catch the Blue Angels in all their glory. There will also be an all-veteran parachuting team and an F-16 Viper demo.
Not much more to say about this one. If your kids like planes, this one is for you. And honestly, even if they aren’t into planes, they just might be after going to an event like this.
BONUS- Get a babysitter for this Beer Feast
If you need a day away from the kids, check out Flying Saucer’s BeerFeast 2021 happening downtown Fort Worth Oct 23rd 1-7pm. Admission is $40 and includes a shirt and 12 2-oz beer tastings. Live music on the 8.0 stage (of particular note are my friends Danni and Kris who go on at 9pm)
